CD Bramall, the UK’s second largest motor retailer, launched its re-designed website on the 30th May 2003, following a user testing programme and expert design advice from Zendor.
Zendor, the Manchester based interactive and fulfilment specialist, was appointed by CD Bramall in December 2002, to conduct a usability investigation of their existing web site, in order to undergo re-design work.
Zendor performed a series of usability labs, which involved researching customer expectations and also giving participants set tasks to carry out and assess how they then interacted with the website. The results were then used to create an engaging site to meet customer expectations, leading to increased conversion rates and customer loyalty.
In order to improve overall performance in terms of enquiries across all sales areas and to keep a contemporary visual appearance Zendor advised CD Bramall to develop navigation and the flow of the site, the overall look and feel, the search facility and special offer communication — all of which were highlighted as key problem areas by the lab participants.
The newly launched site features search facilities for new and used cars across the UK, access to special offers as well as local dealer contacts. Separate sections target business users, and provide information on commercial vehicle services.
The UK used and new car market amounts to nearly 10million vehicles per year (7.6 million and 2.2 million respectively*) and Zendor has drawn on its specialist retailing and interactive knowledge to help CD Bramall capture an increased percentage of the consumer market that researches cars online. The website (www.cdbramall.co.uk) offers online searching for both new and used cars, with more than 7000 used vehicles at any one time.
