Zendor, the Manchester-based distance selling expert, has doubled the warehouse capacity dedicated to its Early Learning Centre (ELC) fulfilment contract, following a highly successful partnership with the retail giant. The expanded warehouse capacity has been introduced due to the success of ELC Direct, the retailer’s distance selling channel.
Early Learning Centre’s recent focus on its multi channel strategy has proven to be extremely successful. By enabling customers to order on-line, by phone or having home delivery arranged in store, ELC provides a choice of channels to purchase their full range of products. In order to cope with the increasing demand of orders made via ELC Direct, Zendor has moved the fulfilment operation to a new purpose-designed warehouse in Chadderton, North Manchester, which has 145,000 sq ft of space.
Zendor provides ELC with a ‘one stop shop’ for all its multi-channel fulfilment needs, ensuring a seamless, consistent multi-channel service for customers, no matter which channel they use to make a purchase. Services provided by Zendor include warehousing, a choice of delivery options (including standard, next day and Saturday), a recently launched added-value gift wrap service, returns management and a dedicated call centre service. Zendor also works to maintain ELC’s high customer service brand values throughout all aspects of the home shopping operation. All these initiatives have served to significantly boost sales for ELC Direct, ultimately resulting in the need for the expansion of space dedicated to the company at the Zendor warehouse.
Sue Dorkin, Supply Chain Director at ELC, comments “At ELC, we have been working closely with Zendor for the past five years to deliver an integrated and flexible solution and feel this partnership has been key to the success of ELC’s fast growing and constantly evolving Direct business. As our Direct offer becomes an ever increasing part of our overall business we are committed to continually improving the range and delivery of services to enhance our customers end to end experience. This includes efficiency of warehouse operations which will be significantly improved through the opening of this new facility to support growth for the next five years.”
Zendor’s partnership with ELC began in 2001 when Zendor was appointed by the leading ‘0-to-6’ toy retailer to fulfil orders placed through ELC’s website and catalogue. Zendor has since continued to assist ELC in extending its multi-channel offerings, and provides marketing services to drive campaigns and increase customer recruitment and retention.
